Frequently asked questions about recumbent bikes

Recumbent bikes are becoming more and more popular with people. Before using or deciding to buy one of these bikes, buyers often have certain questions. Today we want to clear up some of the most frequently asked questions about recumbent bikes.

Is riding a recumbent bike easy/ difficult?
If you have a decent recumbent bike with good steering geometry, it will be very easy for you to pedal. It is best to start your first attempts in a quiet area without a lot of traffic to familiarise yourself with the bike and its functions. It will be much easier for you than when you had to learn to ride a bike as a child. You will quickly feel safe and be able to skilfully do your laps in the countryside or in the city. Nevertheless, you should be aware that it is an official means of transport and the rules must be observed.

Is riding a recumbent bike good for your back?
When you sit on a normal bike, it often feels like you are sitting on a stool. On a recumbent bike, however, the seat is moulded to your body and supports your back. Many people who have switched from a normal bike to a recumbent bike have previously complained for years about back pain or even slipped discs and can now cycle around again without any problems thanks to the recumbent bike. The suspension is particularly crucial in this respect and is much more pronounced than on a conventional bike. In the recumbent position, the disc pressure is only one third. Today it has even been proven that active sitting does not weaken the back muscles, but strengthens them. Urologist Professor Porst even recommends riding a recumbent bike as it does not restrict blood flow in the genital area.

Arethere any disadvantages to a recumbent bike?
The disadvantage of recumbent bikes is that they are very expensive. Due to the individual and very different production, the individual bikes cost a lot of money. However, a customised bike is the best thing you can do for your body to stay healthy and get plenty of exercise in the long term.

How can you transport a recumbentbike like this?
The easiest and best option is of course to ride your recumbent bike from A to B and have it with you wherever you go. However, you can also transport the bike by public transport, bus, train or your own car. A recumbent bike with folding technology is particularly suitable for this type of transport. The Grasshopper fx or the Gekko fix or Scorpion fs tricycles can be optimally transported thanks to their simple folding mechanism.
