HP Velotechnik receives type approval for the Scorpion fs 26 S-Pedelec shortly before the SPEZI

The Scorpion fs 26 S-Pedelec model was a big surprise at the 2023 speciality bike fair in Lauchringen. Although the bike has been around for ten years, the pedal-powered e-trike had only received EU type approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority a few days before the trade fair. This means that the e-trike, which can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h, has now been officially recognised as a motor vehicle. This is an important and above all major step for HP Velotechnik.

Another highlight that HP Velotechnik at SPEZI was the Speedmachine S-Pedelec, which was the first single-track recumbent bike to receive EU type approval back in January and was therefore also a very important exhibit for visitors to the speciality bike fair. Visitors to the trade fair were even able to try out the two bikes for themselves on the test track HP Velotechnik themselves and get a feel for the unique cycling experience.

The approval is also a milestone for the dealers themselves, as the bikes can now also be sold in other countries. Previously, it was always a very difficult endeavour and a lengthy process until the two bikes finally found their way onto the road. The entire process is now much simpler. Thanks to the approval, the bikes no longer have to be individually tested and approved by the TÜV, but instead HP Velotechnik can issue the so-called Certificate of Conformity (CoC paper) themselves. With the certificate, the owner of the bike is immediately authorised to ride his bike on the road.
